Huawei: Orders open for new MatePad 12 X and MatePad Pro 12.2 tablets
A few weeks have now passed since Huawei introduced two new tablets globally. Incidentally, the MatePad Pro 12.2 and MatePad 12X arrived shortly after the tri-folding Mate XT debuted in China. While those two tablets can now be ordered across Europe and the UK, the Mate XT is not expected to leave China until early 2025.
To recap, the MatePad Pro 12.2 and MatePad 12 X both feature 12-inch displays, as their names suggest. However, while the latter has a 2.8K LCD, the former is one of the few devices available with a tandem OLED panel. In other words, the MatePad Pro 12.2 serves as a rival to the iPad Pro 13 (curr. $1,247.93 on Amazon), which appears to be proving less popular than Apple had anticipated.
Allegedly, a high starting price has proven an undoing for the iPad Pro 13. By contrast, Huawei has aggressively priced the MatePad Pro 12.2 in the UK and Europe, where it retails for £699.99 and €999 (~$1,092), respectively. Unsurprisingly, the MatePad 12 X is more affordable. With that being said, it has not arrived in all European markets for its reported €648 (~$709) starting price. Instead, Huawei currently charges €100 more for the tablet in Eurozone members like Germany. Please see our MatePad Pro 12.2 and MatePad 12 X launch articles for more hardware details.
