This Qualcomm Snapdragon 625-powered 5.5-inch Android handset will hit Canada as early as October 18 via Rogers, Virgin Mobile, and Fido.

Huawei unveiled the mid-range NOVA and NOVA Plus handsets at IFA, and now the second one has just been confirmed to hit Canada next month. According to an official press release, the Huawei NOVA Plus is headed for Rogers, Fido, and Virgin Mobile customers in Canada. The launch date is October 18th.

Huawei NOVA Plus is a mid-ranger with quite a few premium specs - 5.5-inch full HD IPS display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 3 GB RAM, and 32 GB internal storage. A dual-SIM handset, the NOVA Plus can be used with a single SIM card, and the second SIM slot can act as a microSD slot instead. The front camera has 8 MP, while the main image shooter has 16 MP, f/2.0, OIS, dual LED flash, and phase detection autofocus, as well as [email protected] fps video shooting capabilities.

Powered by Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, the NOVA Plus comes in gold, silver, and gray. Pricing for Canada has not been unveiled yet, but the NOVA Plus carries a price tag of around $480 USD in Europe.

Although I have been writing about new software and hardware for almost a decade, I consider myself to be old school. I always enjoy listening to music on CD or tape instead of digital files and I will not even get into the touchscreen vs physical keys debate. However, I also enjoy new technology, as I now have the chance to take a look at the future every day. I joined the Notebookcheck crew back in 2013 and I have no plans to leave the ship anytime soon.
