Honor had earlier announced that its upcoming Magic3 would launch with a top-end Qualcomm processor. Now, however, it has changed its tune somewhat and will now reportedly equip the phone with the newer Snapdragon 888+ (or Plus) rather than the 888. This might afford the device a performance boost, although it might not do so much for its price.

Qualcomm has recently announced that it will continue its recent "flagship plus" trend with a direct successor for the Snapdragon 865+ in 2021. The 888+ is now touted to outstrip its vanilla counterpart in terms of performance, thanks to its 5% boost in speed for its most powerful ARM Cortex-X1 core.

Furthermore, OEMs who take this refreshed SoC up are likely to market the resulting new phones as having a top speed of 3.0GHz, as one can conceivably round up to this from the 888+'s actual maximum of 2.995GHz. Qualcomm did vaguely hint that a number of companies were already shaping up to do so, Honor included.

Now, that OEM has reportedly confirmed that the upcoming Magic3 will indeed come with this latest top-end processor on its release later in 2021. Honor has already hinted that the device was meant to push the boundaries in terms of the tech available to its form-factor, and may certainly now augment these claims now the particularly premium 888+ is apparently in the mix.
