Honor 50: new official leaks confirm the new smartphone's design ahead of launch
Honor is building up to what could be called its first major smartphone launch for quite a while. It will introduce successors to the 30 series, an update that may have been delayed for some time following this brand's split from Huawei. Now, the newly independent OEM is hyping this 50 series with a new poster.
It shows the phones' new design off for the first time - in an official capacity, that is. In fact, this rear panel has already been revealed in an earlier leak. The two images in question do look very similar, and show that the devices' main cameras are indeed distributed across 2 prominent rings on the back.
One of these circles is dedicated to a single, extra-large shooter, whereas the other houses 3 much smaller lenses, arranged in a triangular shape. This camera hump (not a million miles away from similar tips linked to the upcoming Huawei P50 series) is currently thought to house up-to-date, possibly 50MP, components.
Internally, Honor has also let it slip that the new series will be powered by the Snapdragon 778G 5G SoC. This might apply to the 50 and 50 Pro; however, new rumors point to an additional "SE" variant with the MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor instead. Then again, Honor has yet to make any mention of this SKU in the run-up to its June 16, 2021 product event.
