Honor X80 surfaces with gigantic 10,000 mAh battery

For years, smartphones with a battery capacity exceeding 5,000 mAh were virtually nonexistent in Europe. This was largely due to regulations prohibiting the shipment of battery cells with a capacity of more than 20 Wh in standard parcels. To circumvent this restriction, models such as the Poco M7 utilize a dual-cell battery to qualify for 7,000 mAh battery delivery to Europe.

Honor is now apparently planning a mid-range smartphone with an even larger battery, as the Honor X80 has already been certified by the China Quality Certification Center with a gigantic 10,000 mAh battery. With a voltage of 3.91 volts, the battery has a capacity of 39.1 Wh, meaning the mid-range smartphone offers almost the same battery capacity as the Steam Deck LCD. Compared to the 8,300 mAh battery in the Honor X70, the capacity has increased by a further 20%.

No further details about the features or price of the Honor X80 are known at this time, but since the device is already undergoing regulatory certification, the launch will likely follow soon. In addition to the X80, Honor is said to be planning another model with a 10,000 mAh battery, the Honor Power 2, and Realme is also developing its first smartphone with a comparable battery. However, since such batteries must consist of at least two cells in Europe, it's possible that the capacity will be somewhat lower in this region.
