While AMD has expanded its market presence with Strix and Krackan Point, last-gen Hawk Point (Ryzen 8000) laptops are still hard to come by. And now, you can get one for a throwaway price at Best Buy. The HP Victus 16 with has dropped to $899 on the platform. While that isn't the lowest, it still represents a $600 discount for an excellent gaming laptop.
The HP Victus 16 comes with an 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor. It is paired with a GeForce RTX 4070, 16 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and a 512 GB NVMe SSD. Both the memory and storage are expandable, with the laptop coming with a second NVMe slot for an extra drive. Other specs include a 16.1-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS LCD panel clocked at 144 Hz with a peak brightness of 300 nits, Wi-Fi 6, and an 83 Wh battery.
We've reviewed multiple HP Victus 16 variants over the past few years. Unfortunately, the above configuration wasn't included, but we did get to test one with a Core i7-13700H and RTX 4070. We praised it for its stable performance and battery life, but chided its lacklustre Wi-Fi speed and poor thermals under load. But the Hawk Point CPU mentioned above is faster than the Raptor Lake SKU according to our benchmark database.
