Alongside a ton of new consumer and business notebooks, HP has taken the wraps off the new EliteBook 6 G1 series of professional laptops with a host of new CPU options from Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm. Depending on the chip inside, HP is segmenting the Elitebook 6 G1 series into “AI PC” and “Next-gen AI PC" with the latter being labeled a CoPilot+ Windows laptop.
HP EliteBook 6 G1 AI PCs
Starting with the standard “AI PC” models, HP will offer the EliteBook 6 in two variants with three screen sizes each.
- The “EliteBook 6 G1i” with the Intel Core Ultra 5 and Ultra 7 Meteor Lake 200U series chips.
- The “EliteBook 6 G1a” with the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 200 series Pro/non-Pro CPUs.
Except for the 16-inch EliteBook 6 G1i that can be equipped with up to an RTX 3050, every other EliteBook 6 G1 SKU comes with integrated graphics, Moreover, all EliteBook 6 G1 models top out at 64 GB of DDR5-5600 SDRAM and 2 TB of Gen 4 storage.
Looking at the display options, HP offers a 13.3, 14, or 16-inch panel for the Intel-based EliteBook 6 G1i. The AMD-powered EliteBook 6 G1a has to do without any 13-inch option. The highest-end configuration of the listed display sizes gets you:
- 13.3-inch: A 1920 x 1200 resolution LCD panel, 800 nits of brightness, and 100% sRGB.
- 14 and 16-inch: A 2560 x 1600 LCD, 400 nits of brightness, and 100% DCI-P3/AdobeRGB.
Aside from these screen differences, the rest of the hardware is pretty much identical between the different SKUs. So, we are looking at up to Wi-Fi 7/BT 5.4, an FHD webcam/a 5MP IR camera on some models, a spill-resistant keyboard with an optional backlight, and a Microsoft Precision Touchpad.
HP has also outfitted the EliteBook 6 G1i/G1a notebook with a decent port selection comprising of:
- Two Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 ports with DP and PD
- Two Type-A connectors
- One HDMI 2.1 jack
- One RJ45 ethernet jack
- A microphone/headphone combo jack
Sadly, there is no SD card slot, so users will have to rely on a dongle. There is also the option for an external nano-SIM slot and a Smartcard reader.
Finally, all EliteBook 6 G1 models can have either a 48 Wh or a 56 Wh battery. The 13 and 14-inch models come with a 65 W Type-C charger while the Intel-powered 16-inch variant brings a faster 100 W Type-C brick.
HP EliteBook 6 G1 Next-gen AI CoPilot+ PCs
HP’s “Next-gen AI PC” EliteBook 6 Gen1 CoPilot+ Windows laptops are nearly identical to the above-mentioned models but with different CPU options from AMD and Qualcomm. So, we are essentially looking at the same chassis, port selection, battery capacity, charging capabilities, RAM/storage, webcam, and more.
When it comes to CPU options, the Qualcomm Snapdragon-based EliteBook 6 Gen1q brings up to a Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100-1 SoC with 12 Oryon CPU cores and an Adreno iGPU. Other options include the Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 and the Snapdragon X X1-24-100.
The AMD variant, the EliteBook 6 Gen1a, comes with AMD’s latest Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 AI 300 series CPUs and the integrated Radeon 860M/840M iGPUs.
Unfortunately, HP has shared no information regarding pricing and availability of the EliteBook 6 G1 models. So, stay tuned for that.
