Much like the recently revealed EliteBook x360 1030 G4 and EliteBook x360 1040 G6, HP will also be updating its 2018 Elite x2 G3 detachable to the 2019 Elite x2 G4. The new model will have Whiskey Lake-U Core i7-8665U options, Wi-Fi 6, Intel XMM 7560 4G LTE Cat16, Sure View Gen3 privacy screen filter, and privacy shutters for both its front and rear cameras that were all previously unavailable on the Elite x2 G3. The system will also be compatible with HP Sure Sense for offline malware protection and the same 1000-nit display option as on the aforementioned EliteBook x360 1030 G4 and 1040 G6.
Users who want the super-bright 1000-nit display option, however, will be limited to a native resolution of 1080p. A 3000 x 2000 resolution panel will be available albeit it will not be nearly as bright.
The chassis of the Elite x2 G4 will be otherwise identical to last year's model. Thus, we recommend checking out our existing review on the Elite x2 1013 G3 to see what you can expect from the Elite x2 G4 since they will share the same features.
Expect the Elite x2 G4 to launch in August for a starting price of $1500 USD. HP will be introducing an optional protective leather folio case with the new refresh as well.
