HMD Global is entering the smartwatch market, with its first two models likely to compete primarily with budget smartwatches such as the CMF Watch 3 Pro. The HMD Watch X1 features a round 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 and a brightness of 600 nits.
The smartwatch is IP68 certified and hence water-resistant, and the battery is said to last for five days. The HMD Watch P1 is expected to be cheaper, as the rectangular smartwatch has a 1.83-inch LCD with a resolution of 284 x 240 and a brightness of 550 nits. This model is only IP67 certified and so unsuitable for swimming, but its battery is said to last up to four days. Otherwise, both smartwatches offer virtually the same features.
These include a heart rate and SpO2 sensor, as well as numerous health features, including over 700 activity modes, sleep tracking, and reminders for when it's time to drink or get up. The accompanying smartphone app will also allow users to take on group challenges with friends, such as running a specific distance together. The smartwatches do not have a GPS module or an NFC chip.
Prices and availability
HMD Global has not yet confirmed any details regarding the price and availability of the two smartwatches. More information about the features can be found on the official product page for the HMD Watch P1 and the HMD Watch X1.
