Gigabyte is reportedly preparing to launch a new 27-inch gaming monitor with a 240 Hz WOLED panel. The 4K gaming monitor will boast dual-mode functionality, as well as RGB-stripe subpixel layout for improved text clarity.

According to TFTCentral, Gigabyte is preparing to unveil a new high-end gaming monitor with an LG-sourced WOLED panel.

To be more precise, the upcoming gaming monitor, dubbed the Aorus Elite FO27U24GP ICE, will feature a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 and will run at a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz. The monitor will feature 250 nits of maximum full-screen brightness, and up to a whopping 1,000 nits in a 1.5% window for HDR viewing.

WOLED panels with RGB-stripe sub pixel layouts, such as this one, render text visibly more sharply than triangular arrangements. Therefore, folks who have long complained about poor text clarity on certain OLEDs will be much more pleased with the Gigabyte monitor.

Folks who care deeply about colors will be pleased to note that the monitor will feature almost complete coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, as well as a 'RealBlack Glossy' display which reduces noise and allows colors to pop, compared to matte surfaces which scatter light for reduced reflections.

The monitor will sport a 27-inch 4K WOLED panel with RGB-stripe subpixel layout for improved text clarity.

Like many other high-end gaming monitors, the Aorus gaming monitor will also feature dual-mode functionality, allowing gamers to run it at a whopping 480 Hz by turning down the resolution to 1080p. TFTCentral has also stated that the gaming monitor will also feature a healthy array of ports, which have been detailed below:

  • Dual HDMI 2.1
  • Single DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR 20)
  • USB Type-C with 65-watt PD
  • Dual USB-A (for data, unspecified)

Those who are curious about the ICE branding: the FO27U24GP gaming monitor will feature a pure white colorway (with black bezels, thankfully), as well as a truly striking rear panel design which might just be too gamer-y for some people. Given the monitor's target audience, though, that should not be an issue.

The Gigabyte Aorus Elite FO27U24GP ICE gaming monitor is expected to arrive sometime in the middle of October. Pricing has not yet been revealed. Folks who require a capable gaming monitor sooner can check out the LG 27G850A-B, currently available for $640 on Amazon.
