Garmin has officially launched the Index Sleep Monitor. The wearable was first rumored in May 2025, with some details leaking at the start of June. As its name suggests, this health-tracking device is designed to be worn at night, helping you to track your recovery.
The Index Sleep Monitor can record your sleep stages, HRV status and stress. Various metrics are combined to generate a sleep score between 0 and 100, indicating how well you slept. It also supports the recently released Breathing Variations tool thanks to a pulse ox sensor. Plus, it can monitor your skin temperature, which could help with menstrual cycle tracking. On top of this, users get a Body Battery score, allowing them to track their energy levels.
Garmin suggests that a smart wake alarm will wake you at the optimal time with a gentle vibration. The sleep monitor supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.0, with all data viewable in the Garmin Connect app. You can also check your sleep metrics on a compatible Garmin smartwatch; the company has yet to provide a list of compatible models. The Index is expected to run for seven days between charges, assuming you sleep for around eight hours each night.
The device is said to have a comfortable, lightweight strap designed to be worn on the upper arm. It is available in two sizes, S/M and L/XL, and the band is machine washable. You can now buy the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor for $169.99/£149.99/€169.99. According to the product listing at the brand’s online store, the product will ship in the next three to five weeks. Garmin also recently launched the Venu X1 smartwatch (curr. $799.99 at Amazon).
