Garmin has made two new filings at the FCC in the US, suggesting new smartwatches are on the way. Filings IPH-04452 and IPH-04453, each listed as a “Portable Transceiver”, appeared on January 5. According to the blogger Fitness Tracker Test (@fttest_en), these listings could be related to the rumored Garmin Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265s wearables.
Rumors began shortly after the Garmin Forerunner 255, and Forerunner 255s watches launched in June. At this time, the5krunner shared two images which appear to be of the smartwatch, from a “reliable source”. The pictured gadget reportedly has a round AMOLED display, five control buttons and Forerunner 265s branding at the rear. At the time, people speculated that the new devices would launch in February or March 2023.
Accessories allegedly compatible with the Garmin Forerunner 265 have also begun to appear. For example, a range of watch straps from Holi Moli is available at bol.com in the Netherlands. This could be another indication that the new Garmin smartwatches will shortly launch. Garmin has yet to provided any hints as to when the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265s smartwatches could arrive or how much they will cost. The company also recently filed three multisport watches with the IMDA in Singapore, listed as having Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity. It is unclear whether these filings are for the Forerunner 265 watches.
