A range of new Garmin smartwatch features appears to have been leaked in a report by the5krunner. The alleged upcoming tools include ECG with Afib detection and alerts for a lower-than-expected SpO2 level when sleeping. Rumors also suggest new sports profiles, such as basketball, boxing, mixed martial arts, squash and table tennis, could soon arrive.

A host of new features for Garmin smartwatches appear to have leaked. A report from the5krunner suggests that wearables with SpO2 level monitors will soon be able to notify you if your blood oxygen measurement falls below a threshold while you are sleeping. It might be that Garmin would recommend users take advantage of this tool to optimize their sleep. Rumors also claim that some of the recent higher-end Garmin smartwatch models could receive an ECG feature that can detect Afib. To take a measurement, you would place two fingers on the metal bezel of the watch.

According to the leaker, various new sports profiles will be added to the Garmin Connect app, such as basketball, boxing, mixed martial arts, squash and table tennis (full list below). New settings tools could be on the way, such as creating a full backup, allowing you to restore your device from a specific time, and transferring just chosen settings to a new watch. Another alleged new feature is a virtual adventure badge, though it is unclear how you would earn it.

Also listed was an index scale fat calibration tool, the power to allow other Garmin users to view your account and the ability to adjust workout intensity using the touchscreen. The the5krunner claims to have obtained the information from “a single reliable source”. These rumoured new features are expected to be available on the upcoming Forerunner 265 and 265s smartwatches. Garmin has not provided an official statement in response to the supposed leak.
