Kuba Wojciechowski has revealed new information about Mobvoi's next flagship smartwatch. Mobvoi had hoped to launch a next-generation TicWatch last year. However, Wojciechowski claims that Mobvoi has only recently added basic support for a next-generation TicWatch Pro within the TicWatch app. The developer adds that Mobvoi has included product renders 'in a few places', although it appears that these have not made their way to the app's front end yet.
Regardless, it would appear that Mobvoi is moving closer to releasing a TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra successor, six months after Mobvoi first teased the device. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mobvoi will skip the TicWatch Pro 4 series, with tetraphobia a common superstition in East Asian countries. Instead, Mobvoi will soon release the TicWatch Pro 5, which the company previously referred to as just a 'next-gen TicWatch'.
Apparently, the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 remains, which should allow the TicWatch Pro 5 to outperform all TicWatch Pro 3 models. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 delivers 2x the performance 50% longer battery life than the Wear 4100 or Wear 4100+ platform. Mobvoi has updated the design of the TicWatch Pro series, too. As the image below shows, the TicWatch Pro 5 will contain a digital crown, mirroring the Pixel Watch. Unfortunately, a release date remains unknown at this stage, as does launch pricing.
