The Garmin Public Beta Version 14.08 for the Forerunner 255 Series and Forerunner 955 Series smartwatches has been released. Since the previous software, version 14.06, three changes have been made. Firstly, several improvements have been made to the graphs on the wearable, such as scrolling via the touchscreen. Another enhanced feature is Auto Rest, which has been optimized for the Ultra Run Activity. Garmin notes that "various fixes" have been made to the activities.
However, customers who have trialled the software have flagged a range of bugs. For example, there have been reports that an incoming call no longer triggers vibrations, and an issue causes the watch to restart after accessing the heart rate widget. According to posts on the Garmin Forum, the company is already working to resolve the problems flagged so far.
The latest software is available as part of the Garmin Beta program, allowing customers to test updates ahead of a wider release; you can sign up for the Beta via Garmin Connect. Eligible models will automatically receive the update, checking for the software once a day. Update 14.08 is listed as a release candidate, meaning that Garmin intended to go live with the update publicly, assuming no significant bugs were detected. It is unclear how the reported issues affect the software's public release.
