Garmin is distributing a new beta update for Fenix 6, Enduro, Tactix Delta, Quatix 6 and Marq series smartwatches. The new build is available as Beta version 24.84 and will be distributed through Garmin's GCM servers if your smartwatch is enrolled on its Public Beta program.

Garmin continues to introduce new features to old smartwatch series, unlike some of its competitors. As always, Garmin is testing new features through its Public Beta program before distributing them to all eligible smartwatches. While it is unclear when Enduro, Fenx 6, Marq, Quatix 6 and Tactix Delta series smartwatches will receive their next stable software update, Garmin is now issuing Beta version 24.84 through its GCM servers.

According to a blog post, Beta version 24.84 makes ten changes from v24.10, the last stable build for Enduro, Fenx 6, Marq, Quatix 6 and Tactix Delta series smartwatches. However, the latest beta build only contains two improvements from its predecessor, Beta version 24.81. For reference, the full changelog from v24.10 to v24.84 is as follows:

  • Added support for Connect IQ System 6.
  • Added a new tip to inform the user that the device battery life can be extended by switching the PulseOx setting to manual.
  • Improved the treadmill pace algorithm.
  • Fixed an issue where the device was exiting battery saver when accessing the activity list multiple times in a row.
  • Fixed an issue where the device would incorrectly display a message indicating a connection to Rally XC200 Pedals when on activities that don't support pedals.
  • Fixed a potential issue where the device would shut down on long navigation activities.
  • Fixed a potential issue where the reported recovery time would not match across multiple widgets.
  • Fixed the auto-save activity UI flow to no longer show PR alerts.
  • Improves the backcountry ski and snowboard activities to automatically detect climbs, descents, and transition time.
  • Fixed issue causing a blank item in the training status list.

Garmin notes that the final two changes are exclusive to v24.84, with the other eight also distributed via v24.81. Please see Garmin's latest blog post for more details, including how to update your smartwatch's secure_config files where necessary. Garmin has not changed these since November 2022 though, so your smartwatch may already be on the latest set of files.
