Funcom, the name behind Conan Exiles, has teamed up with Rock Pocket Games to deliver a new horror title for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Its name is "Moons of Madness" and should arrive during this year's Halloween season and shares the same thematic universe with Funcom's Secret World Legends.

Those who are missing the Dead Space franchise or searching for an alternative to Alien: Isolation should get ready for a fresh serving of horror from Funcom and Rock Pocket Games. According to Funcom, "Moons of Madness is a first-person, story-driven cosmic horror game where the scientific exploration of Mars meets the supernatural dread of Lovecraft."

Unfortunately, this title will spend a few more months in the making and — if everything keeps going as planned — should be ready to hit the market around Halloween. The player enters the game as Shane Newehart, a technician stationed at a secret research base called Invictus that was built on Mars by the Orochi group. Shane's job is supposed to be very simple — keep the lights on until a transport ship arrives with a new team to take over — until it becomes obvious that it's not and everything goes south.

Those who enjoyed Funcom's Secret World Legends will be pleased to discover that Moons of Madness is set in the same thematic universe, drawing upon the rich lore and mythology of its predecessor. However, even those who never played Secret World Legends should be able to enjoy Funcom's new title.

Obviously, a beta test should be conducted at some point in the future, but there is no information about it yet. Moons of Madness will be available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
