Exfil, developed by Misultin Studios in partnership with publisher MicroProse Software, launched in Early Access on December 11, 2024. Coinciding with the Zone Alpha update, which introduces a new game mode and expands the weapon arsenal, a free Steam promotion runs until February 3.
Extraction shooter without the grind
Exfil clearly takes inspiration from Escape From Tarkov but skips the extensive loot grind in favor of teamwork and tactical depth. Still, classic extraction gameplay remains at its core.
Players drop into one of six maps in teams of up to eight, battling to complete mission objectives. A wide selection of realistic weapons and carefully modeled ballistics create intense PvP encounters. With a 24-hour day-night cycle and dynamic weather, teams must constantly adapt to shifting conditions.
Mostly positive ratings
As of the research date, Exfil had 144 Steam reviews, with a 71% "mostly positive" rating. Criticism mainly focuses on dated graphics, weak sound design and unpolished gameplay. The tactical shooter is usually priced at $29.99 on Steam but is discounted by 20% until February 6, bringing it down to $23.99. Despite the criticism, fans of realistic shooters might still find Exfil worth checking out, especially while it's free to play until February 3.
