Apple's new A19 Pro chipset is already seen as not offering a significant upgrade in CPU performance over last year's A18 Pro. Regardless, the Apple SoC is currently the most powerful in the world, and new information indicates that may not change anytime soon.
As spotted on Geekbench, the A19 Pro has been tested to deliver a single-core score of 4,019 and a multi-core figure of 11,0154 aboard the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Those numbers showcase around a 20% improvement on the A18 Pro's numbers from our tests last year. Interestingly, leaker Digital Chat Station claims that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will also score about 4,000 and 11,000 on those same tests, opening up the possibility of the Qualcomm chipset being unable to outperform Apple's alternative.
Of course, that theory entirely hinges on the idea of this specific Geekbench listing being representative of the A19 Pro's performance. That looks unlikely, however, with most other listings showing a multi-core score in the region of 9,700. In all likelihood, this benchmark run occurred in actively cooled testing conditions to minimize throttling.
