Deal | Destruction at a record-low price: Demolition sim under $2 on Steam

Demolish & Build 2017 was developed by Polish studio Noble Muffins and published by Demolish Games in October 2016. On Steam, the demolition sim normally costs just under $20, but the current 94% discount cuts the price to $1.19 until April 20. According to SteamDB, discounts of up to 90% had previously been common, so this marks the game’s lowest price so far.

In gameplay terms, the title blends open-ended contract work with machine operation and light management elements. Players use cranes, bulldozers, road rollers, concrete mixers and various hand tools to tear down buildings piece by piece, transport materials and reinvest their earnings in new vehicles and projects. Much of the appeal lies in the destruction itself, the handling of heavy equipment and the gradual expansion of your own company. Players can also acquire their own plots of land and invest in rentable construction projects.
Overall, the reception has been fairly solid. On Steam, Demolish & Build 2017 holds a 79% positive rating based on more than 600 user reviews. Gaming website KeenGamer is somewhat more reserved, scoring it 6.9 out of 10. The site praises the accessible gameplay, satisfying destruction mechanics and entertaining vehicles, while criticizing the low difficulty level and somewhat repetitive mission design. It also notes that the game’s strengths clearly lie in demolition, while the construction sections are noticeably less enjoyable. Compatibility with the Steam Deck is currently listed as “Unknown.”
