Dell XPS 13 9300 (2020)
The XPS 13 must be one of the top models for the business world in terms of laptop choices. I remember, at one point we had ten or so XPS 13 models in one of my offices. The reason behind this is not just form factor, but also durability and long-term usability.
Well, with recent changes in hardware architecture and improvements in overall CPU/GPU technologies, durability is something we expect from all manufacturers. More or less all laptops on the market, depending on which segment they are in, are using the same kind of hardware. Therefore, evaluating durability in terms of hardware is no longer valid. What we look more into now is chassis, battery life and connectivity.
I must say, with all these USB Type-C ports, not having the proper adapter is going to be a problem for everyone. The new Dell XPS 13 9300 will not be an exception, as it will only come with two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt support. Compared to older versions of the XPS 13, we see some improvements. Some are in a good direction, some not. Good is that the new models will come with a new heat-pipe design, which will help processors perform better. Also, the speakers seem to have been improved as well, providing better sound output. My concern are the two connection ports. If you plug into one, you end up only having one port to work with. Sometimes adapters do not work well and do not provide all necessary power to run some operations. With my Asus ZenBook, for instance, when I use the provided adapter for USB 2 devices, I can not transfer books to my Kobo reader, as the device is not recognized.
On to the performance side. Since the XPS 13 9300 will come in different options, you have to be careful, because you might buy something with 4 GB of RAM, which would end up with you spending on something that will be a complete waste. Having said that, with Ice Lake Intel processors, 32GB RAM options are now supported as well, and that is a good thing. The bad thing is that it is soldered to the mainboard, which means you have to stick with what you buy, as upgrading will not be an option.
Would I suggest buying the XPS 13 9300 (2020)? It depends. Meaning, I think it will be a great device for people who seek to have mobility and power combined. It also depends on which specs you are aiming for. After that, it will be all about how much money you have in your pocket. Isn’t there any competition? Oh, yeah. Asus is one of my favourites in this area. Especially since Asus provides models weighing 900 grams, I think it will not be about how strong the hardware is, but about who provides the best mobility.

The Dell XPS 13 has long been one of the best-looking ultrabooks around, boasting a deliciously compact form factor and a gorgeous edge-to-edge display. With the announcement of the new 2020 model, Dell may have just cemented its place on top of the ultrabook pile, at least in terms of design. The new XPS 13 is – to put it simply – stunning, with Dell lopping off the bottom bezel and making it even thinner.

At the same time, these potential issues are random and don’t affect all XPS 13 models, so there’s a good chance you won’t run into any of them. However, as frustrating as it is, buying a laptop is a lottery these days, so at least make sure to get it from stores that allow easy returns, in case you draw a short stick.

The latest version of the Dell XPS 13 could be one of the laptops to beat in 2020. It combines a luxurious design with top-notch specifications, and it's looking like quite the winner. That said, you can expect it to cost quite a lot when it arrives. A laptop for the masses, this is not.

Displays with 16:10 aspect ratios were mostly reserved for Apple laptops the last couple of years, but Dell now returns to this format with the brand-new XPS 13 9300. How does the entry-level version of the new XPS 13 9300 perform? Read our review below to find out.

I really enjoyed using the XPS 13. It has a distinctive look yet it feels familiar. I think mobile workers, journalists, and frequent travelers will appreciate the XPS 13. If you want the thinnest and lightest Windows notebook with beautiful design and all-around performance, the Dell XPS 13 is your best option. But that experience comes at a significant cost, even more, premium than Apple’s new MacBook Air.

At Rs 1.44 lakh, the XPS 13 is a premium offering from Dell and will click with those who want the best of the best in their laptops. It has a sleek design, an impressive display and solid performance on all counts. The keyboard has been improved as has been the trackpad and there’s very little room for complaints with the Dell XPS 13. For a Windows user, the XPS 13 is one of the best laptops available in the market. Sure, the price might seem steep but if you are looking for quality then don’t look beyond the Dell XPS 13. It’s compact, powerful and does everything you want a laptop to do at seriously impressive levels.

Lisa Gade reviews the spring 2020 refresh of the Dell XPS 13, model 9300. This extremely compact Ultrabook has undergone a redesign, with an even smaller footprint despite a larger 13.4” display. That display is now 16:10 aspect ratio and is available in matte, FHD and 4K resolutions. The Dell runs Windows 10 on Intel 10th gen Ice Lake U series CPUs with up to Intel Iris Plus graphics. It has Killer WiFi 6, a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button, Thunderbolt 3, an M.2 NVMe SSD, up to 32GB RAM and is available in two colors.

The Dell XPS 13 for 2020 represents the perfecting of a formula that was so good that it caused other laptop makers to go back to the drawing board. The display is bigger and brighter, the keys are larger and comfier and you get more speed and hopefully more battery life to boot.

In truth, none of this year’s upgrades will revolutionise your working life, but they add up to a machine that is clearly superior: the tenth gen Intel Core processors are faster and contribute to (probably) better battery life; the keyboard and touchpad are that little bit larger; the screen ever so slightly nicer to use. Unless you can bag last year’s XPS 13 for a bargain price, we recommend you choose the 2020 edition.

Both the 2018 and 2019 iterations of the XPS 13 were best-in-class, and on paper the 2020 model improves on almost every pain point, with a bigger screen, wider keyboard, and the latest Intel chips. We’d love to see a bigger battery - though that would in turn make the body bigger, so maybe not - but otherwise this is hard to fault.

Once again Dell has knocked it out of the park with the XPS 13. The diminishing bezel in this series' design is a standout feature that not only looks great, but makes for a smaller footprint product that's easier to carry about.

The Dell XPS 13 2020 looks to set a very high bar for laptops this year. It has admittedly seen minor improvements, making it pointless for XPS 13 2019 owners to upgrade, but the taller display, smaller bezel and larger keys still combine to make 2019’s best laptop even better.

The Dell XPS 13 2020 is still one of the laptops to beat, as it's one of the most premium Ultrabooks in the game. The world of laptops keeps getting more competitive though, and some of the more controversial aspects of the laptop may hold it back from retaining our number one slot: namely the underpowered entry-level model and the bottom-mounted speakers.

Smaller, sleeker and sporting the tiniest bezels on all sides, the new Dell XPS 13 shows that Dell still knows how to push the envelope without going too far. The new laptop is an exercise in patient restraint, improving the notebook in a bunch of small ways that add up to a big leap for the system. We’re excited to put this new system to the test when it launches in February.

For sure, the XPS 13 9300 is one of the best 13-inchers you can get, regardless of the price. It is both great in terms of computational performance, and in playing some light games. Moreover, creative tasks, like photo editing and vector graphics work will not be a problem, whatsoever. However, you have to keep in mind that this laptop doesn’t provide a very adequate cooling for its processor. At least not for the Core i7-1065G7 model. If you are rendering a video, for example, it will heat up quite drastically, both inside and out, with the keyboard reaching some 48C.

If anything, Dell needs more unique tricks like this if the XPS 13 is going to remain among the ultraportable elite. This 2020 model is largely more of the same, which a lot of the time is fine: the sleek build is exquisite, there are multiple security tools, and the keyboard and trackpad are both top quality.

Does Dell’s latest XPS 13 suffer any shortcomings? Dropping the primary input ports from three to two Thunderbolt 3 (by eliminating the USB-C port in the prior generation system) might be problematic for owners who run numerous peripheral devices. However, that can be easily addressed with a multi-port dongle (like Dell’s Travel Adapter) or a desktop adapter.

We love that they brought back Windows Hello facial recognition, and we're impressed with the really nice and thin bezels of the display. However, there are still some things that can be improved.

The 2020 Dell XPS 13 9300 is, in my estimation, the best ultraportable currently on the market. It’s a barely-there laptop you can basically throw in a bag, but it has more than enough power to even satisfy some pro users for light workloads. There are a number of laptops out there that get just about everything right. But most of them have at least one area of serious concern where the XPS edges them out. On HP’s Spectre x360, it’s the 16:9 screen. On the Surface Laptop 3, it’s the lack of Thunderbolt. On the Surface Pro 7, it’s the dated design. On the MacBook Air, it’s the battery life. To be the best laptop you can buy, the XPS 13 doesn’t need to do everything perfectly; it just needs to do everything a little bit better. And for yet another year, it does.

I really love the new XPS 13. There doesn't seem to be any meaningful compromises here, and the improvements that Dell made absolutely are meaningful. My only complaints are that there's no cellular model, something that HP offers from its Spectre lineup, and that you have to scan your fingerprint after the PC boots up. That's it.

Perhaps it’s best to think of the XPS 13 as a status symbol, a machine that pushes the boundaries of what a laptop can be even as its benefits trickle down to other models lower in Dell’s food chain. You’ll need to pay a premium for it, just as you need to pay the infamous Apple tax for a MacBook Pro, but in return you get a superbly designed laptop with oodles of cool factor.

If you want the 4K UHD touchscreen, it's going to cost you at least an extra $300 USD over the FHD versions. What kinds of benefits can users expect and how will the display impact battery life? We compare the FHD and 4K XPS 13 versions to find out.

The Dell XPS 13 (9300) is a beautiful notebook device that is sure to attract the attention of passersby. Its high-resolution display, and above average sounding speakers, also makes it an excellent all-rounder for both work and play. However, it seems like that is just all to the Dell XPS (9300). The tradeoffs made to the Dell XPS 13 (9300) to achieve such an industrial design were somewhat painful, affecting its performance. The truth is that the Dell XPS 13 just does not perform as well as competition. The thin and light design also forces the XPS 13 to have a very limited number of IO ports as well, affecting the notebook’s practicality and usability.

The Dell XPS 13 is a masterclass in building a thin and light laptop that doesn't compromise on the quality of the materials. The use of exotic materials isn't for show, but instead, to actually lend to both good looks and a sturdy build quality. You don't buy the Dell XPS 13 becuse you're looking for a performance beast. You buy the Dell XPS 13 when you know you want the thinnest, best looking laptop in the category that also outperforms the competition.

A beautiful 16:10 display and the best keyboard around are enough to mean the XPS is worth anyone considering, but poor ports, overheating problems, and a steep price leave this a good laptop, but maybe not a great one.

The Dell XPS 13 2020 is a great laptop if you need one solely for productivity. It’s very portable, it has a great display with touchscreen support, good battery life, Wi-Fi 6 support, two Thunderbolts 3 ports, useful software suite, and excellent build quality. If you feel that 4K UHD+ is overkill for this, there is a Full HD+ variant that you can consider.

While other laptops tend to opt for 'normal', the XPS series has always pushed itself to be a step ahead. Here the trim bezel makes for maximum screen impact, the widescreen ratio makes for a smaller footprint, while the carbon fibre composite ensures a really comfortable typing experience. Dell has once again proven it's the laptop master.

Reusing chassis designs is not uncommon in the laptop industry. However, it is really interesting how Dell managed to pull this off with brand new hardware, on a body that is old enough to go to kindergarten. So, is it worth buying this laptop in 2022? Well, the answer to this question depends on a lot of things. If you get a decent deal, it’s definitely not a bad idea to invest in the XPS 13 9305. However, there is a whole ton of new machines ready to hit the market, that is equipped with the latest tech from both Intel and AMD. This includes the XPS 13 Plus 9320, which has a lot of new features. You can read more about them here.

The Dell XPS 13 Plus 9320 is an attractive ultraportable laptop with a good amount of power. While it lacks GPU performance, most people who get this type of laptop would be looking to use this for simpler things, like web browsing, watching videos, and word processing. If you can look past its shortcomings and are willing to pay its asking price of RM7,299, it’s will serve you well.

The sleek Dell XPS 13 Plus 9320 impresses with its exquisitely crafted chassis and solid performance though it has a few quibbles that detract from what is otherwise an excellent design. The Zero Lattice keyboard offers a fantastic typing experience but the cramming of the shortcut and function keys into a single haptic touch row leaves something to be desired in terms of practicality. Its high performance envelope and underwhelming battery life means that it is best suited for short power meetings out of the office than a daily-carry workhorse.

The Dell XPS 13 Plus is a fantastic-looking laptop, flaunting cutting-edge features such as the haptic feedback trackpad and touch panel. But Dell’s obsession with creating a super-skinny laptop has seen compromises to both the performance and battery life, making it difficult to justify the high price.

Also running Windows 11, the hybrid XPS 13 runs on 12th Gen Intel Core CPUs, up to 16GB of RAM and one TB of internal SSD storage. It also uses the integrated Intel graphics processor, with a 13-inch “3K” 2880 x 1920 Dolby Vision-compatible display. For meetings or taking snaps, the XPS 13 2-in-1 features a 1080p selfie webcam and 4K rear-facing camera. Available in either a blue sky-coloured Wi-Fi 6E model or slate-coloured 5G version, the XPS 13 2-in-1 starts at $1,999 and will launch on 9 July in Australia and New Zealand. I’ve used an older Dell XPS 13 laptop for years now and can attest to its quality. The downsized motherboard in the latest model is a particularly impressive feat, so I’m looking forward to finding out if the performance keeps pace.
