Decathlon launches new cheaper E-EXPL 100 hardtail e-bike

Another Decathlon Rockrider e-bike has been launched in France. The new E-EXPL 100 hardtail electric mountain bike appeared a few days after the brand revealed the E-EXPL 100 LTD e-bike in this market.
There are a few differences between the Decathlon Rockrider E-EXPL 100 and the more premium E-EXPL 100 LTD. The E-EXPL 100 has a Vision VRNH105 motor, while the E-EXPL 100 LTD has a Rockrider motor. However, both motors are rear wheel mounted, with 250W power (316W peak) and 43 Nm torque. Each offers a walk assistance mode and three power settings up to a maximum assistance speed of 25 kph (~16 mph). Another point of variance is the battery: the standard model has a 360 Wh power pack, for up to 50 km (~31 miles) range, whereas the LTD version has a larger 499 Wh battery, for a longer range of up to 100 km (~62 miles).
Decathlon’s Rockrider E-EXPL 100 has mechanical disc brakes, 180 mm at the front and 160 mm at the rear, while the LTD variant has dual-piston 180 mm hydraulic disc brakes. Plus, each version has an LED controller, including a USB-C port, mounted to the handlebars, though from different manufacturers. Both are 7-speed e-bikes with a Microshift RD-M25L X7 rear derailleur and 29-inch Kenda Booster K1227 tires. They have aluminum frames wth a Zoom suspension fork (100 mm travel), with the medium E-EXPL 100 weighing 24.5 kg (~54.0 lbs); the medium E-EXPL 100 LTD weighs around 26.0 kg (~57.3 lbs). It is also worth noting that the LTD version has more accessories, adding fenders, a luggage rack and a kickstand to the bell and lights available on both models.
The white Decathlon Rockrider E-EXPL 100 hardtail electric mountain bike is listed with a €999.99 RRP on the brand’s website in France. This makes it €700 cheaper than the E-EXPL 100 LTD. However, all four sizes - S, M, L and XL - are currently marked out of stock. It is unclear when customers will be able to purchase this e-bike in France or in other European countries.
