Deal | Save $100 on Apple's new 24-inch iMac with M3 chip
Announced during Apple's 'Scary Fast' Mac event in October, the highly anticipated 24-inch iMac received a substantial update, now powered by the latest Apple M3 chip. Unveiled simultaneously with the M3 chip, this upgraded iMac is currently available at a discounted price on B&H, with the base model, featuring an 8-core CPU/GPU configuration, offered at a reduced cost of US$1199, down from the standard US$1299.
The enhancements to the iMac are predominantly internal, with no alterations to its design or color options. The highlight of the update is undoubtedly the integration of the M3 chip, along with the addition of Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6E for an improved connectivity experience.
The M3 chip boasts 8 CPU cores and up to 10 GPU cores, mirroring the configuration of its predecessor, the M2 chip. However, the M3 exhibits a significant leap in performance, delivering up to 20% faster GPU and CPU performance compared to the M2. In a more suitable comparison with the previous iMac's M1 chip, the M3 showcases an even more substantial boost, providing up to 65% faster graphics tasks and 35% faster CPU tasks than its predecessor.
One of the standout features of the M3 is its support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing, a first for the Mac lineup. Additionally, it introduces mesh shading and an all-new feature referred to as "dynamic caching", promising more efficient memory allocation and improved GPU utilization.
