Apple expected to release a 12.9 inch iPad Air in 2024, report reveals
As previously reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, and now the renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is set to unveil a revamped iPad lineup next year.
Kuo, in his latest report, reveals that Apple's upcoming plans include the introduction of a larger 12.9-inch version of the iPad Air, to be launched alongside a smaller 10.9-inch variant. Notably, although the larger display won't incorporate MiniLED technology found in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, it will showcase a new oxide backplane, akin to the iPad Pros.
Following the iPad Air releases, Apple is slated to shift its focus towards the long-anticipated and long-rumored iPad Pros featuring OLED displays, with LTPO backplanes similar to the iPhone 15 Pros which is expected to offer significant performance and efficiency improvements, although fears of burn-in prevail.
As corroborated by Mark Gurman, these new iPad Pros will be available in the standard 11-inch and a larger 13-inch screen sizes, boasting Apple's latest M3 chip for improved performance. Subsequently, a new iPad Mini and a budget-friendly iPad 11th Gen are also on the horizon, according to Kuo's insights.
After a full year of no iPad updates, 2024 certainly seems to be a promising year for fans of the popular device. It now remains to be seen how Kuo's and Gurman's predictions play out in reality.
