Deal | Dark steampunk stealth shooter drops from $30 to $6 on Steam

Anyone who enjoyed Dishonored and Dishonored 2 should also also find plenty to like in Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. The spin-off is a bit more compact than the two main games, but it relies on the same gameplay DNA. That means sneaking, fighting or using supernatural abilities – how players tackle the game’s open levels is entirely up to them. For those who have not played the title yet, now might be good opportunity to do so: Steam is currently offering an 80% discount on the stealth shooter, reducing the regular price from around $30 to $6 – but only until April 2. According to SteamDB, discounts of this scale appear regularly.

Dishonored is set in a dark steampunk world full of political intrigue and supernatural forces. The story centers on former assassin Billie Lurk, whom fans of the series will already know from earlier games. Together with her old mentor Daud, she sets her sights on what is probably the most radical target in the entire series: the Outsider – the mysterious figure believed to be partly responsible for many of the darkest developments in the Dishonored universe. In terms of gameplay, Death of the Outsider once again relies on the immersive sim formula that made its predecessors so popular. The levels are open-ended and encourage players to find their own paths. Billie also brings new supernatural abilities and weapons to the table.

In GameStar’s German review, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider received a score of 87 out of 100. The editorial team particularly praised its creative gameplay, dense atmosphere and strong level design. The varied missions, optional objectives, rewarding exploration and improved PC performance compared with Dishonored 2 were also well received. GameStar was more critical of the story, however, arguing that despite an intriguing premise, it feels a little too straightforward. On Steam, the stealth shooter has around 13,000 reviews, 87% of which are positive. On Metacritic, it performs slightly worse, with a Metascore of 82 and a User Score of 7.1. Anyone looking to play it on a handheld should also be well covered thanks to its “Verified” status for the Steam Deck.
