More Than Just Pals turns Palworld into dating sim

More Than Just Pals was originally announced on April 1, 2024, when the game was still an April Fool's joke. One day before April 1, 2026, Palworld developers Pocketpair are now announcing the game again, and explicitly emphasize in the announcement embedded below that this is not an April Fool's joke.
The game is already listed on Steam but still without a specific release date. The announcement already includes a trailer and a series of screenshots showing that the dating sim takes place in a school and is not exactly free of violence - jealous pals can apparently get violent at times, and there are apparently also mysteries to solve.
According to the Steam description, players take on the role of an exchange student who can befriend Pals, fall in love with them or even eat them - the direction in which the relationship between a Pal and the player develops is entirely up to the player. However, the Steam description dates back to last year and no new details have been added as part of this new announcement, meaning that the system requirements, for example, are not yet final.
Even though Pocketpair explicitly emphasizes that this is not an April Fool's joke, it remains to be seen how seriously the developers of Palworld actually take the dating simulation. Not least because the completion of Palworld should be a priority - the game has already been in Early Access for over two years and version 1.0 is due to be released this year.
