G.Skill is relaunching the infamous Trident Z Royal series and is now offering overly luxurious-looking memory modules with DDR5 RAM, up to 8400 MT/s, including support for Intel XMP 3.0.

With a housing in shiny silver or gold and a kitschy jewel crown in white, which can shine in a color of your choice thanks to integrated RGB lighting, G.Skills' latest Trident Z5 Royal RAM is the equivalent of a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona "Leopard" - much flashier than necessary, but still equipped with solid technology.

After all, the shiny heatspreader is designed to dissipate waste heat effectively. At the same time, the fastest kit on offer comes with two 24 GiB DIMMs with a memory speed of 8400 MT/s, a latency of CL40, and an operating voltage of 1.4 volts. G.Skill also offers a kit with two 48 GB memory modules, but no further details on the features are yet known.

In any case, Trident Z5 Royal supports the Intel XMP 3.0 standard, so that the memory clock should automatically be set to the maximum possible speed in conjunction with an Intel processor. According to G.Skill, the RGB lighting of the RAM can be controlled either via the in-house G.SKILL Trident Z Lighting Control software or via an app that can control the RGB lighting of a motherboard.

Prices and availability

According to G.Skill, sales of the new Trident Z5 Royal DDR5 RAM will start by the end of May, worldwide. The manufacturer has not yet confirmed any details about the price, but Trident Z Royal usually belongs to the top price segment. The RAM is not yet listed at any retailer.
