Asus accidentally revealed AMD's new naming scheme for its upcoming Strix Point CPU via a website listing. It would mirror Intel's approach with a three-digit number for each SKU, preceded by the usual Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 branding, with a little sprinkle of "AI" on top. Golden Pig Upgrade, a reliable Bilibili leaker, now talks about another potential last-minute name change for AMD's upcoming laptop CPUs.
The part formerly known as Ryzen AI 9 HX 170 will be renamed to Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Its non-HX counterpart will go by Ryzen AI 9 365. The reasoning behind the "300" monicker is that it uses the third iteration of AMD's NPU which debuted alongside the Ryzen 7000 series. That said, the names have not been finalised and AMD could go back to the original at launch.
This approach allows AMD some wiggle room for Hawk Point refreshes, which can then be launched as Ryzen AI 1xx and Ryzen AI 2xx. Once again, this mirrors Intel's strategy for its second Raptor Lake refresh that will launch as the Core 200H (non-Ultra) series. We should know for sure in the coming weeks, once AMD officially unveils Strix Point.
