An earlier leak from Asus highlighted a bunch of new laptops that would launch with AMD's upcoming laptop processors codenamed Strix Point. They included popular notebooks such as the TUF Gaming A14/A16, ROG Zephyrus G16, and Creator ProArt SKUs.
However, it missed out on a new Vivobook S16 OLED variant, which was spotted on Asus' website (archived version) by X user @harukaze5719. Unlike the previous information, this one reveals AMD's new naming scheme for Strix Point CPUs.
AMD's new high-end CPU will be called the Ryzen AI 9 HX 170, at least the top-spec one. Lower-end SKUs are likely to follow suit. This completely defenestrates AMD's earlier CPU naming scheme that debuted only two years ago.The CPU in question is not the the "Strix Halo" as it packs only 12 CPU cores instead of 16.
Exactly what the top-spec model will be called remains to be seen (Ryzen AI 9 HX 190, maybe). The listing also reveals the Ryzen AI HX 170 will come with a 77 TOPS NPU and an unspecified Radeon iGPU (RDNA 3.5).
