Tesla has started sending out Cybertruck release date event invites to the select few who will attend the festivities at Giga Texas on November 30. The first ones who got a hold on a Cybertruck event invite are the winners of its dedicated lottery, as well as those who redeemed referral program points for the chance to participate in the Cybertruck's price and specs announcement in the flesh.
In the meantime, those who were wondering if the Cybertruck did well in the Stair Steps climb off-road test that Tesla did not long ago, now have a chance to compare its performance against other electric pickup pioneers directly. The Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area is the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to Cybertruck pre-release off-road tests.
Tesla's electric pickup with 14-inch suspension travel has been filmed taking on the famed Stair Steps challenge there at full lift. Some off-road aficionados in possession of the Cybertruck's chief competitors couldn't resist but do the same stunt. As a result, there are now Cybertruck vs Rivian R1T and Cybertruck vs Ford-F150 Lightning videos that directly compare how these EV juggernauts take on one and the same off-road challenge.
In a nutshell, the Cybertruck did well, the Rivian R1T seemed to do great, while those who expected the Ford F-150 Lightning to fare worst would be in for a disappointment, as the Hollister Hills steps climb is not really that much of a challenge for an experienced driver with off-road skillset.
Stair Step is made from mostly cement. They made it to be a low traction surface and offsetting the steps making the vehicle climb and flex or articulate its suspension. As more vehicles drive up, they leave behind trails of dirt making it more slippery. pic.twitter.com/uuRpzjx6H5
