Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer confirmed to arrive as a standalone product
Cyberpunk 2077 is probably the most anticipated game of the last decade and its multiplayer component will probably get a lot of hype on the road to its launch as well. However, not much is known about it right now, although CD Projekt's CEO has recently uncovered the company's approach to it.
When talking to the investors, Adam Kaciński revealed that the multiplayer mode is not considered to be so by the team working on it. In fact, he said the following: "It's a separate dedicated production, a big production. We think about it as a standalone product."
Considering the above, one big question arises: If CD Projekt considers Cyberpunk 2077 to be a project big enough to be treated as a standalone product, what kind of launch should we expect? While there are only two big possible answers, most gamers will hate the one that involves buying the multiplayer as a separate product. On the other hand, there is the "free DLC release" option that will make all gamers happy, but might not be considered viable by CD Projekt's board.
The single-player Cyberpunk 2077 is on track for the December 10 release, when it should hit Windows PCs, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Obviously, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S gamers will be able to play it via backwards compatibility.
