Creative launches the SXFI Gamer USB-C headset with Super X-Fi technology and replaceable ear cups
Creative Technology has launched the Creative SXFI Gamer, its latest pair of gaming headphones. Available in the US, UK and EU from today for US$129.99, £114.99 and €129.99 respectively, the SXFI Gamer only come in black at launch. The headset builds on the SXFI Air C, but Creative has made a fair few changes from the Airs.
The SXFI Gamer features 50 mm neodymium drivers, RGB light rings and replaceable ear cups. The latter are leatherette with memory foam inners, which Tom's Guide rate as comfortable. The leatherette extends to the headband too, beneath which sits the headband adjustment markers. There are eleven of these, for reference.
According to Creative, two of the main highlights of the SXFI Gamer are its new CommanderMic and its BATTLE Mode audio profile. The former features "SXFI inPerson Microphone technology" to improve speech clarity, while the latter optimises the headset's EQ for background details like footsteps and reloading weapons.
Another big part of the SXFI Gamer is Super X-Fi Gen2, Creative's holographic audio algorithm. The SXFI Gamer can use this mode on PC, Mac, PS4 and the Nintendo Switch. Creative Technology has also released the SXFI Control program for Windows and Mac or the Super X-FI app for Android and iOS to adjust sound quality and lighting.
