While most people around the world are still waiting to get 5G access, T-Mobile and Metro are back with an accessory for their 600 MHz LTE network. The Coolpad Surf hotspot is capable of connecting up to 15 devices simultaneously and its 2,150 mAh battery can last for up to 5.3 hours of continuous use or 48 hours on standby.

By the end of this year, we should see at least a few smartphones launching with support for 5G connectivity. However, this standard is still at least a few years away from reaching a global mainstream presence, so the fact that T-Mobile and Metro are launching a new hotspot for the 600 MHz LTE (4G) spectrum should not be surprising.

The Coolpad Surf is a rather compact device that sports a 2,150 mAh battery and can provide WiFi connectivity for up to 15 devices at once. If the Extended Range 600 MHz LTE network is out of reach, this accessory can handle old-school 4G LTE and 3G LTE networks as well. Once connected to a network, the Coolpad Surf can last for more than 5 hours on a single charge. Finally, the battery life while in standby mode can hit 48 hours.

Sadly, the Coolpad Surf comes with the need for a SIM and a data plan to go with it and those are not cheap (from US$10 a month with 2 GB of data up to US$85 for 22 GB of data from T-Mobile). Those interested can get it for a full retail price of US$72, but this handy accessory can also be acquired via T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Plan for 24 monthly payments of US$3 each. Metro customers can get the Coolpad Surf as the "MetroSMART Hotspot" for a similar price.
