Cooler Master has shared early details about its next Mini LED gaming monitor. Not only has the company revealed key specifications, a release window and US launch pricing.

Cooler Master has revealed various details about one of its next high-end gaming monitors. Currently, the company has not shared the information directly. Instead, it has relayed what to expect from a GP27U successor to TFTCentral, which was also the case last year with other Cooler Master gaming monitors.

According to the website, Cooler Master will replace the GP27U with the GP27U2. As its name suggests, the latter will retain its predecessor's 27-inch panel size. Additionally, the GP27U2 will operate natively at 4K (3,840 x 2,160) and 160 Hz. However, Cooler Master has included twice the volume of Mini LED backlights this time, moving from 576 local dimming zones in the GP27U to 1,152 in the GP27U2.

For now, Cooler Master has not revealed the brightness, contrast or colour space coverage improvements that an additional 576 Mini LED backlights will provide. With that being said, the GP27U was already impressive in these regards at 600 nits SDR, 1,200 nits HDR, a 1*00:1 contrast ratio and 98%/99% DCI-P3/Adobe RGB colour space coverages, respectively.

Reportedly, the GP27U2 will enter mass production in June 2024. TFTCentral adds that Cooler Master is working towards a August or September release, although both windows could be subject to change. Moreover, the website reports that the GP27U2 will be available for $639, which would make the monitor significantly cheaper than the GP27U (curr. $807.88 on Amazon).
