Citizen's new Tsuyosa Shore (NJ0238-57E) is a limited-edition automatic watch with a textured gradient-black dial, gold accents, sapphire crystal, and 10 BAR water resistance. Capped at 12,000 pieces, it launches August 2026 at roughly $462.5.

Citizen's Tsuyosa collection is popular mostly for its sporty, everyday-wearable watches. The brand's latest addition, however, trades that "everyday wearability" for something more reflective. Instead of launching another bold, high-contrast watch, the new model takes cues from vintage dive watches.

The result is the Tsuyosa Shore (reference NJ0238-57E), a limited edition with a textured, gradient-black dial with warm gold-toned indices and bezel markings for a worn-in finish rather than the brighter palette (for which Tsuyosa line is known for).

The 40.0 mm stainless-steel case comes with a one-way rotating bezel and sapphire crystal with a built-in date magnifier over the window at 3 o'clock. A three-link steel bracelet rounds out the whole "retro-diver" vibe and Citizen rates the piece to 10 BAR of water resistance, enough for swimming and light water sports, but not for serious diving.

Inside is the automatic Caliber 8210. It's a mechanical movement with manual winding as a backup, running at 21,600 vph with 21 jewels. The Japanese company claims an average daily accuracy at -20 to +40 seconds and a power reserve of roughly 42 hours on a full wind. A stop-second function lets wearers set the time precisely. A transparent case back exposes the movement for anyone who wants to see it tick.

Citizen is capping the run at 12,000 pieces worldwide, which means that the Shore is more of a collectible rather than a permanent entry. The watch is scheduled to launch in August 2026 at a projected price of USD 462.5. Citizen's pitch here seems to be the vintage-style design and a workhorse automatic movement.

We'll have to wait and see if the retro dial treatment and gold accents are enough to stand out in a crowded market of homage divers. The reception will likely come down to how it looks and wears in person.
