Deal | Cheap MSI GF65 Thin is down to $699 USD with decent Core i5 CPU, 512 GB NVMe SSD, and GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics
The last generation MSI GF65 Thin is on sale at the moment sporting the Core i5-9300H CPU and GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU. Though it's certainly no 4K powerhouse, the system will still be able to run modern titles at native 1080p and medium settings without many issues. Keep in mind that the mobile GTX 1660 Ti is only about 10 percent slower than the mobile RTX 2060 since the mobile RTX 2060 is about 15 to 25 percent slower than a desktop RTX 2060 despite sharing the same name.
There are a handful of drawbacks to keep in mind. Firstly, the Core i5-9300H been aging poorly especially when up against the newer and oftentimes cheaper Ryzen 5 4600H. Secondly, system RAM is just 8 GB while the display maxes out at 60 Hz instead of 120 Hz or 144 Hz. RAM is technically expandable, but users might risk voiding the warranty. And lastly, the chassis is mostly plastic since the GF series is MSI's budget range of gaming laptops. Nonetheless, the configuration should be sufficient for gamers on tighter budgets who won't mind 1080p gaming at 30 FPS or 60 FPS with reduced settings.
