Best Buy is currently holding a sale on both the 15.6-inch MSI Modern 15 and 14-inch Prestige 14 "prosumer" laptops. For those unfamiliar with the models, here is our quick rundown.

The Modern 15 is an entry-level to mid-range offering that doesn't quite match the performance or features of the Prestige 14. Its 10th gen Comet Lake-U CPU will be sufficient for undemanding office tasks and multi-tasking even if it's starting to age. Instead, the biggest selling point of the laptop is its low weight of just 1.6 kg and ease of servicing. Both RAM and storage are upgradeable as well.

Users willing to upgrade to the flagship Prestige 14 will find a brighter display, newer processor, double the RAM and storage, and Thunderbolt 4 compatibility to give it much longer legs than the Modern 15. GPU performance in particular is significantly faster than the UHD Graphics 620 in the Modern 15 to aid in graphics editing and the occasional light gaming. RAM, however, is soldered and port selection is minimal meaning owners will need to rely on USB-C or Thunderbolt adapters. The system includes just a single USB-A port to the chagrin of most office users out there.
