A few days ago, we exclusively detailed about MSI's upcoming GE76 Raider in a new Babylonian-inspired design. Now, at the company's MSIology event at CES 2021, MSI has made the GE76 Raider Dragon Edition Tiamat official. MSI tells us that the GE76 Raider Dragon Edition Tiamat will be the company's flagship offering for 2021 unlike the GT Titan series that traditionally wears that crown every year.
The GE76 Raider comes in two variants — the first SKU features a relatively minimalist design and is essentially a larger 2020 GE66 Raider while the second model is the Dragon Edition Tiamat named after the all-powerful Babylonian Goddess. Both variants sport MSI's signature SteelSeries RGB chassis lighting on the bottom frame.
Both these variants share a common spec sheet including being powered by the Core i9-10980HK CPU. GPU options include the RTX 3080 Mobile in the 10UH variant and the RTX 3070 Mobile in the 10UG variant. Buyers can configure the GE76 Raider and the Tiamat variant with quite a few 17.3-inch display options including UHD and FHD options; the FHD options include both 240 Hz and 300 Hz panels.
Complementing the Core i9-10980HK is up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and 2x NVMe PCIe Gen3 SSDs. The GE76 Raider also offers excellent network connectivity powered by a Killer E3100 2.5G LAN card and an Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 WLAN module.
As is expected from a flagship gaming notebook, the MSI GE76 Raider models don't disappoint and include an assortment of USB port types. Interestingly, there is no Thunderbolt 3 port available as was the case with last year's GE66 Raider. However, a 20 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen2x2 port is offered. A 4-cell 99 WHr battery helps power gaming on the move.
Pricing and availability information will be known at a later date.
