Casio has announced a special edition digital watch inspired by Back to the Future, coinciding with the 40-year release anniversary of the iconic 1985 film. The Casio CA-500WEBF has the retro charm of Casio’s classic calculator watch, mixed in with the film’s instantly recognizable time-travel motifs. It will launch on October 21, 2025, priced at £115.00 (~$153).
The new collab between Casio and Universal Products & Experiences (UP&E) reimagines the CA-500 - a model that’s been a bestseller since the 1980s - through the lens of Marty McFly. The watch face unmistakably mimics the taillights and the "OUTATIME" license plate of Doc Brown’s DeLorean Time Machine. The colorful calculator buttons are inspired by the film’s time circuits, which display destination and current times.
Some interesting details are present on the back and strap as well. The case back is engraved with the flux capacitor - which is the device that powers the DeLorean’s time travel - and the buckle bears the Back to the Future logo. Each unit ships in a special videotape-style box. The company says that the CA-500WEBF has been designed to bundle the spirit of Back to the Future in a wearable form.
As expected, the CA-500WEBF keeps the original CA-500’s core features, including an eight-digit calculator, stopwatch, alarm, and daily calendar functions. The watch is water-resistant and powered by a long-lasting battery. It will be purchasable via Casio UK's official website (link not live as of writing).
Casio’s calculator watches have seen several other high-profile collabs in recent years, including tie-ins with PAC-MAN, Transformers, and Stranger Things. These editions have been extremely popular and have helped revive interest in the calculator watch line over the years.
