After weeks of anticipation and prior leaks we covered earlier, Casio has now officially launched the new MTG-B4000 series in Japan, introducing two models: the MTG-B4000B-1A2JF and MTG-B4000-1AJF. Both are now live on Casio’s website with detailed specifications, and are set for release in Japan this June.
The standout feature of the MTG-B4000 line is its major redesign driven by AI-assisted structural simulation, which is something that may divide fans. The new watches have a lighter and slimmer case than previous models, without really compromising on strength, as per the company. Casio has used a new carbon and stainless steel fusion structure here - part of its signature "Dual Core Guard" framework - which keeps the watch both shock-resistant and 200-meter water-resistant.
Both models use a new layered carbon frame construction and incorporate MIM (metal injection molding) components for added rigidity. The B4000B-1A2JF is priced at ¥176,000 (~$1,220) and sports a blue-gray IP finish, while the more subdued B4000-1AJF comes in at ¥165,000 (~$1,144). Both weigh just 112g and measure 14.4mm thick - noticeably slimmer than earlier MT-G models.
Other highlights include Bluetooth connectivity, solar charging, radio-controlled timekeeping (MultiBand 6), high-brightness LED illumination, and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The watches pair with the Casio Watches app and include G-Shock standards like world time, stopwatch, and triple G resist.
Compared to the previous generation MTG-B3000, this lineup looks like it's trying to overhaul the rugged-premium niche with better ergonomics and new, updated design tech. For users looking for a high-end analog G-Shock without bulk, this could be a notable update worth considering. Both new watches are currently limited to the Casio Japan online store, so wider availability shouldn't be too far off.
For a slightly cheaper option, you can check out the Casio MTG-B1000D-1AJF - currently $775 on Amazon.
