Casio has announced a brand-new addition to its G-Shock lineup, the G-5600BG-5JR - a model that focuses primarily on environmental sustainability through the use of recycled resin waste. This latest release builds upon the company's previous efforts to incorporate recycled materials into G-Shock designs, but with a more distinct, 'out-there' execution.
The G-5600BG-5JR has a marbled ivory-tone case and band with a textured finish that gives it a stone-like appearance. Unlike earlier recycled resin models, this watch adopts a muted off-white base with flecks of darker resin embedded throughout.
The watch is based on the standard G-5600, which means it includes Tough Solar charging. As per @morgan_gshock, the resin components, including the case and band, are derived from manufacturing waste that has been processed and repurposed.
Functionally, the G-5600BG-5JR retains the core features of the G-5600 series, including shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, an EL backlight, and multiple alarms. While pricing and availability details haven't been disclosed, it is expected to be released in select markets soon.
