Casio debuts new compact Edifice watches, shot alongside a Toyota 2000GT

Casio has listed new Edifice models on its European webpages. It's the cheapest way into the brand's newer 38 mm watches. The EFR-109 series turns up on Casio's European sites with four models, all priced at €119.

Three of them come on a steel bracelet. The EFR-109D-1A has a black dial, the EFR-109D-2A a navy one, and the EFR-109D-3A goes green with gold-toned hands and markers. The fourth, the EFR-109L-7A, uses a cream dial with a perforated brown leather strap, which is the one Casio markets hardest in its own photography. The whole series is shot around a Toyota 2000GT from the Toyota Automobile Museum, and Casio's copy talks about sports cars whose design holds up over time.

It's a three-hand watch with a date at 3 o'clock, applied baton markers, and a thin printed chapter ring around the outside. The case is stainless-steel and measures 45.3 x 38 x 9.8 mm, so it's slim enough to slide under a shirt cuff. Casio points to the crystal as well; it's slightly domed and meant to give the dial some vintage depth. Please note it's mineral glass, not sapphire.

The rest is quite straightforward. Water resistance is rated at 10 bar, the quartz movement is accurate to ±20 seconds a month, and the SR920SW battery should last around three years. The bracelet models weigh 97 g and use a triple-folding clasp with a one-touch release, while the leather version drops to 44 g.

All four are listed as "coming soon" on Casio's Spanish, Dutch, and German sites, with no date attached. German site Uhren-Nerd reports a release date of October 1 on Casio's German store, though, so the wait shouldn't be long.
