BetaView Zion X: 16-inch and 2.5K portable monitors debut from US$199
BetaView has announced the Zion X Lite and Zion X Pro, cheaper options to the Zion Pro that launched earlier this year. While the Zion Pro is a 15.6-inch monitor, the Zion X Lite and Zion X Pro both feature 16-inch panels. Funded through a Kickstarter campaign, the pair appear to feature identical panels, although the Zion X Pro contains a few more features than the Zion X Lite. Understandably, the Zion X Pro is more expensive than the Zion X Lite too.
On the one hand, the Zion X Pro supports 10-point multi-touch, a feature lacking on the Zion X Lite. Additionally, the former comes with a glossy display finish, compared to the matte one applied on the Zion X Lite. On the other hand, the touchscreen layer adds to the Zion X Pro's weight. While the Zion X Lite tips the scales at 363 g, the Zion X Pro weighs a more substantial 953 g.
Still, both monitors measure 356 x 224 x 6 mm on account of their 16-inch and 16:10 displays. According to BetaView, both operate at 2.5K, or 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. Moreover, they each offer up to 460 nits of peak brightness with a 60 Hz refresh rate and require 5V/3A power. Separately, both monitors feature a USB Type-A port, a 3.5 mm jack, an HDMI input and two USB Type-C data ports. Currently, the Zion X Lite can be backed on Kickstarter for US$199, with the Zion X Pro set at US$269. BetaView hopes to ship both monitors in December 2022, although there are often delays with crowdfunding campaigns.
