BenQ launches the iScreenBar, a light bar built for the iMac

BenQ has launched the iScreenBar, a new monitor light bar designed specifically to complement the aesthetic of Apple's modern iMac lineup. Priced at $189, the light bar is built to look and feel like a natural extension of the all-in-one desktop computer without obstructing its built-in camera, microphone, or rear logo.

Made from aluminum and featuring a glass touch panel, the iScreenBar uses a custom magnetic clamp to mount securely to the back of the iMac. A magnetic cable clip is also included to keep cords hidden, maintaining a clean workspace.

The light bar is powered directly from the iMac's USB-C port, which automatically activates its video call mode when the camera is in use. In this mode, the light automatically adjusts to even out facial illumination and reduce glare.

The lighting system features asymmetric optics designed to illuminate a desk area of 33.5 by 19.7 inches at 500 lux, directing light downward to prevent screen glare and avoid shining directly into the user's eyes. BenQ has integrated several smart features, including presence detection to automatically turn the light on and off, as well as an ambient light sensor that adjusts brightness based on the room's conditions.

Additionally, a dedicated macOS application allows users to fine-tune brightness levels, adjust the color temperature, and switch between different lighting modes directly from their desktop. The iScreenBar is currently available through BenQ and Amazon, and it is compatible with 24-inch iMac models released from 2021 onwards.
