It’s no surprise that the Battlefield 6 open beta was incredibly successful. Not only were there hundreds of thousands of people queuing up to try the game, EA’s stock price jumped up as well. The publisher has now shared more details about the open beta weekends, along with insights and learnings that will shape the final game.
Through a community update, EA has thanked everyone who played, streamed, and watched Battlefield 6 during the open beta weekends. As per the stats, over 420 million matches were played with over 92.3 million hours of gameplay. The open beta lasted between August 9 and August 10, and then from August 14 to August 17. As for streaming, the game was streamed for over 600,000 hours and watched for over 30 million hours.
EA got a lot of feedback from the community and shared some of its learnings. It will be making weapon adjustments with tweaks to recoil and tap-fire characteristics. The movement mechanics have been adjusted for a more “balanced and traditional Battlefield experience.” Of course, this includes the excessively high jump glitch that some players were able to use to their advantage.
There were several videos of players finding ways to reach rooftops on certain maps, which was not intended by the developers. So, changes will be coming to those maps as well. For the Rush game mode, the default player count will be lowered to “improve the flow of combat and restore the tactical, methodical experience that defines the mode.”
There are some more adjustments that are being made to player counts in Breakthrough mode and the playlist options. All these tweaks and changes will be previewed in upcoming Battlefield Labs events.
Battlefield 6 is slated to launch on October 10 for PC and consoles.
