The Asus Prime X299 Edition 30 motherboard is a new product from the Taiwanese manufacturer that comes absolutely bristling with features that will be a feast for an overclocker’s eyes. The board can handle X-series processors, which bring a lot of power and performance with them. It even has an onboard 2-inch LiveDash OLED screen that sits beneath the socket and another LiveDash OLED panel in the Smart Control Console, which also sports a 720p IR webcam and supports voice recognition.
In terms of connectivity, the Asus Prime X299 Edition 30 motherboard has dual Thunderbolt 3 ports, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) communication capability, 5G LAN, and it even has eight USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (four at the back and four on the front). There’s also a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port up front for faster connectivity. Heatsinks, fins, and a subtle 40-mm fan help with keeping the board cool.
The Asus Prime X299 Edition 30 motherboard can deal with a maximum memory amount of a whopping 128 GB, and it can tolerate multiple GPUs utilizing either Nvidia’s Scalable Link Interface or AMD’s CrossFireX technology. The PCIe 3.0 x16 slots can support 44-lane CPUs or 28-lane CPUs, so overclocking enthusiasts could soon be pushing a Core i9-9980XE to its limits. Asus recommends checking with a local representative for pricing and availability.
