86.5% Asus ZenBook Flip 15 UX563FD in review: Multimedia convertible for content creators | Notebookcheck
The Asus convertible shines with powerful hardware, a sleek metal case, a backlit keyboard, good battery life and a Pantone-validated 4K touchscreen display. For the latter, users have the choice between using their fingers or the included Active Pen for inputs.

A great do-it-all laptop that ticks a lot of boxes. It's a quality 2-in-1 device that will handle anything from work to light gaming, and features one of the best screens going on a portable machine.

80% Asus ZenBook Flip 15 review (UX563F): Second-screen sensation or simply insane?
Source: Pocket Lint English Archive.org version
Although we can't find any truly killer features from the screen-in-trackpad ScreenPad 2.0, that's almost besides the point. In the ZenBook Flip 15 you've got all the power, screen potential and battery life you could expect from a 15-inch laptop, without an unreasonable price tag.

With a 2-in-1 design and a stunning 4K display, there’s a lot to love about Asus ZenBook Flip 15 UX563FD - especially if you’re in the creative industry. That said, the unreliable ScreenPad and position of speakers could be improved, considering the price of this laptop.

ASUS ZenBook Flip 15 UX563 review – don’t let the ULV processor fool you, this is a very powerful machine
Source: Laptop Media English Archive.org version
ASUS ZenBook Flip 15 UX563’s display is touch-sensitive, has a super dense UHD resolution, comfortable viewing angles and decent maximum brightness and contrast ratio. Additionally, its default settings are adequate, while the backlight lacks PWM, which makes it comfortable for long periods of use.

Model:

Asus ZenBook Flip 15 is the latest venture by Asus which carries a combination of concepts that ranges from convertible to gaming to a touchscreen trackpad. As far as the design is concerned, this ZenBook does not carry a bad design for a device with an identity crisis. Having said that, this model can never be classified under the high-end productivity device as it will definitely fall back in competition. It’s weight is almost doubled when compared to other flagship Ultrabooks from competitors such as Apple, LG, Microsoft and Dell. This model also falls a bit on the chunky side making it more susceptible to competitions. In addition, its overall rather unremarkable look as compared to XPS or Surface device also makes it fall back in the competition. The ZenBook Flip 15 can be considered as an acceptable gaming laptop but it definitely isn’t the best out there. As most gaming laptops fall into the extremely tacky look, this laptop has deviated from that with its metal body and mild color choices. This laptop comes with a 15.6 inches display along with either a full HD resolution or a 4K UHD resolution. Being a 2-in-1 laptop, this laptop has several positions it can stay at including upright, tent and tablet. However, Asus still has not figured out on how to open the lid with a single hand, something that has come to be a standard for premium built quality. However, it should be noted that the ErgoLift mechanism has made a comeback with this model and there is also an optional IR face recognition system.

The keyboard on the other hand was said to give one of the closest experiences to a desktop keyboard and the hinge raises the keyboard up to an angle from the surface for a more ergonomically pleasing typing experience for the users. ZenBook Flip 15 has also incorporated the ScreenPad which acts as a second screen to offer add-on-apps for Excel, PowerPoint and Word, while also acting as a trackpad in general use. In terms of its performance, this laptop really offers impressive productivity performance with the incorporation of a 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake processor within it. It definitely beats the most modern Ultrabook out there such as Surface Laptop 3 and Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 in that sense. For graphical performances, the ZenBook Flip 15 is definitely commendable with its Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q incorporation. However, this isn’t the best option for gaming though. The 71Wh battery is considered to be a good choice for this laptop, especially for the 4K display option. While the 4K model was tested for battery longevity which lasted just under seven hours, the reading may increase for a few to several hours for the Full HD model. This laptop is definitely a great choice for those who wouldn’t mind the large size and weight to carry out general tasks and a little bit of gaming amid work.

Series:

The Asus ZenBook Flip 15 is a 2-in-1 laptop with a powerful 8th-gen Intel Core i5 processor paired with NVIDIA’s GTX 1050 GPU. It gives users all the convenience and versatility of a 360°-rotatable 15.6” display in a stunning new design. It is thin and light, featuring the 8th-gen Intel® Core i5 processor, discrete graphics, an HDD with up to 2TB + a 512GB SATA SSD, USB-C ports, and a powerful Harman/Kardon audio system. The ZenBook Flip 15 is a timelessly elegant masterpiece, exquisitely crafted from solid aluminum, giving it a tough, scratch-resistant finish that has been designed to stay beautiful. The ZenBook Flip 15 uses incredibly tough and durable alloy steel in its any-position 360° hinge mechanism. It is available in two exclusive and elegant new colors with two different textures: Pure Silver and Smoky Gray. The Flip 15 uses a standard layout chiclet keyboard with white-colored keys and white backlighting. One thing that we noticed is that it does not have the last column after the NumPad, where the “-“, “+”, and “enter” keys are usually located. The touchpad, which also serves as a click pad, is smooth on the hands and does not have much resistance when gliding on it, which is good. The ultra-sharp screen has an amazing Full-HD resolution of 1920 by 1080 with wide, 178° viewing angles, so it is always easy and comfortable to view. With an incredible pixel density and 100% sRGB coverage, images and text are always pin sharp and ultra-detailed.  Furthermore, the screen has an ultra-narrow bezel. The result is a laptop with a 79% screen-to-body ratio that maximizes the screen area while minimizing overall size. To maximize the viewing comfort, the NanoEdge display also has a matte anti-glare coating which reduces annoying reflections. Asus ZenBooks have a history of having good color reproduction displays, which is always a plus for any user.

The audio quality is loud, clear, and crisp thanks to the Harman/Kardon loudspeakers. The highs, mids, and lows are more than decent enough. The AudioWizard app lets users choose which sound type they would prefer by picking from the presets or by customizing their preferred quality. The Flip 15 is a powerful 2-in-1 ultrabook, since it features an Intel Core i5-8250U, an NVIDIA GTX 1050 (2GB), a 512GB SSD, and 8GB of RAM that is expandable up to 16GB. This kind of setup is suitable for gaming as well as photo and video editing. Whether a designer, a developer or a gamer, every user will get the best possible graphics performance with the ZenBook Flip 15. The notebook features the revolutionary USB-3.1 Type-C port for any-way-up connections and super-fast data transfers, twice faster than USB 3.0. The USB-C™ port on the ZenBook Flip 15 incorporates the latest technology for versatile, ultra-fast transmission. The Flip 15 also comes with the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi, with speeds of up to 867 Mbps - it is three times faster than older Wi-Fi generations.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q: Efficient mid-range graphics card for thin and light laptops based on the same GP107 chip as the normal GTX 1050 for laptops but at slower clock speeds. Offers a approx. 10 - 15% lower performance than the laptop GTX 1050 but at a much lower power consumption.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

i7-10510U: Comet Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Whiskey Lake and still produced on 14nm++). The CPU cores can clock between 1.8 and 4.9 GHz (all 4 cores 4.3 GHz max.) with HyperThreading (8 threads). The integrated memory controller supports DDR4-2666 and using cTDP up/down the performance can be adjusted by the OEM (10 - 25 Watt possible, 15W default).» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

15.60":

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
