Asus Vivobook 15 OLED M513UA: Ryzen 7 Meets OLED Screen
Asus presents the Vivobook 15 OLED M513UA, an office all-rounder in 15.6-inch format, whose highlights are the built-in OLED screen and the powerful Ryzen APU. Prices start at around 800 Euros; for the current variant under review, you'll have to fork out around 900 Euros.
The OLED panel (FHD) offers an excellent black level and completely covers the DCI-P3 color space. It also offers stable viewing angles, good colour reproduction, short response times and sufficiently high brightness. But the glossy screen surface is a point of criticism.
The computer is powered by a Ryzen 7 5700U APU, which provides more than enough performance for office and internet applications as well as simple computer games. This is supported by 16 GB of RAM (dual-channel mode; 8 GB module + 8 GB onboard), which can be further expanded. A positive aspect: Laptop heat and noise emissions are at a very moderate level.
The memory capacity (512 GB SSD, PCIe 3, M.2 2280) is not overly generous. But replacing the SSD is possible if necessary. In principle, the notebook still offers space for a 2.5-inch storage device. Since neither a SATA slot nor a mounting frame are included with the test device, such a device cannot be added.
One battery charge (42 Wh) is enough for a WLAN runtime of around 6.5 hours - an average value at best. A downside: The battery cannot be charged via USB-C power supply. The existing port (USB 3.2 Gen 1) supports neither Power Delivery nor DisplayPort via USB-C.
