Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro RAM sizes and types confirmed with upgrades across the board over the iPhone 14 series

The RAM amounts and types for all of the phones in the recently released Apple iPhone 15 series have been shared online. While the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max get straight RAM increases over their iPhone 14 counterparts, there is a more subtle RAM upgrade for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

Apple is known for being secretive in regard to the RAM found in its iPhones; however, a combination of a report from MacRumors and an X post from leaker Abhishek Yadav has provided the iPhone 15 RAM sizes and types. All four phones in the Apple iPhone 15 series do get a RAM upgrade, but it comes in a different form depending on the model.

At the top end, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max enjoy a +33% amount boost over the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. So, while the 2022 models had to make do with 6 GB of RAM, the 2023 variants are blessed with 8 GB of RAM. Apple might not offer the huge amounts of RAM that some companies choose (Xiaomi Redmi K60 Ultra: 12-24 GB RAM), but 8 GB is enough for the average iPhone user.

As for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, they get a RAM speed upgrade. Their iPhone 14 counterparts used 6 GB of LPDDR4X-type RAM while the newer models are updated to 6 GB of LPDDR5 (same RAM type found in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max). There is a significant speed increase to enjoy here, with LPDDR4X reaching 2,133 MHz and LPDDR5 surpassing that on 3,200 MHz.
