Rumors have been circulating for months that the Apple AirPods Pro 3, like the Apple Powerbeats Pro 2, will feature an integrated heart rate sensor, allowing the completely wireless earbuds to monitor your heart rate during a workout and collect heart rate data without a smartwatch. According to the latest information from 9to5Mac, Apple is also installing a skin temperature sensor.
It is unclear whether this will be used primarily for tracking a woman's cycle, as with the Apple Watch Series 10, or whether Apple will use the skin temperature data for other functions. However, one of the most coveted new software features is not expected to be ready for market launch when the completely wireless earbuds debut this fall. According to 9to5Mac's sources, Apple's live translations will be added via a later software update.
Live Translation has become an integral part of Apple's iPhone operating system since the release of iOS 26. Artificial intelligence allows for real-time translation of language, such as when conducting a video chat via FaceTime with someone whose language you don't speak. Combined with AirPods Pro, this would make it possible to translate other languages in real time in the real world. Apple is yet to officially confirm whether Live Translation will also be available on the AirPods Pro 2 or whether the feature will be exclusive to the new AirPods Pro 3.
